Abstract
Indicators for Latin American technological capacities Abstract: This report analyzes the technological advances achieved by a group of countries of Latin America and the Caribbean which are characterized by an expansion of international trade and increased attraction of direct foreign investment in the last 20 years. The report attempts to shed light on theoretical- and empirical aspects, by means of revising previous bibliographies and statistical information in order to create specific indicators. Theoretically, the emphasis was put on identifying previous analytical and conceptual models relating to analyzing the technological capacities of developing countries. The empirical portion consisted of gathering information and statistical data available, upon which indicators have been constructed to serve as analytical tools for investigating the specific conditions of the different countries and evaluate their individual development processes during the last two decades.
