dc.description.abstractLa situación laboral de América Latina y el Caribe dio muestras de recuperación parcial durante 2021, tras la crisis causada por la pandemia de enfermedad por coronavirus (COVID-19). Si bien la tasa de participación laboral y el empleo registraron mejoras ese año, algunos de los grupos más afectados por el impacto de la pandemia, como las mujeres y el personal dedicado al servicio doméstico, seguían presentando importantes rezagos en comparación con la situación previa a la pandemia. La recuperación parcial de la demanda local y la influencia del entorno internacional en los costos de producción incidieron en el aumento de la inflación regional, que a su vez afectó a los salarios mínimos y a los salarios reales. En la segunda parte de este informe se muestra que los salarios reales de la región se encuentran aún más rezagados que el empleo y la actividad económica respecto de los niveles prepandemia. A su vez, se subraya la importancia de los mecanismos institucionales y de diálogo social del mundo del trabajo para facilitar los ajustes apropiados a los salarios de los trabajadores y trabajadoras de América Latina y el Caribe.
