dc.description.abstractEl presente número del Boletín Demográfico aborda un tema de mucho interés y actualidad que ha llamado la atención de planificadores e investigadores de distintas disciplinas sociales. El cambio en la estructura por edad de la población es, hoy en día, un fenómeno que comienza a ser reconocido en América Latina y por tal motivo, el mismo ha sido analizado en seminarios y publicaciones especializadas. Tomando como base las proyecciones de población en su variante media (Boletín Demográfico No 40) y las tablas de mortalidad de cada uno de los países latinoamericanos en el período 1950-2025, se ha elaborado, mediante una metodología simple, una serie de cuadros que permite visualizar en detalle la situación de los cambios en la estructura por edad que afecta la población de la región
dc.description.abstractEngThe current number of the Demographic Bulletin deals with a theme of great current interest which has occupied the attention of planners and researchers in various social disciplines. Change in the age structure of the population is a phenomenon which is beginning to be recognized in Latin America at the present day, and for this reason, has been analysed in seminars and specialized publications. Taking the medium variant population projections as a base (Demographic Bulletin No. 40) and the life tables of each of the countries of Latin America for the period 1950-2025, a series of tables has been developed, using a simple methodology, to allow the visualization in detail of the changing age structures which are affecting the population of the region
