dc.description.abstractEn esta edición de 2014 del Panorama Social de América Latina se presentan las mediciones de la CEPAL de la pobreza por ingresos y se analiza la pobreza desde una perspectiva multidimensional. La aplicación de estos dos enfoques a los datos sobre los países de la región permite reforzar la idea de que, más allá de los avances logrados en la última década, la pobreza persiste como un fenómeno estructural que caracteriza a la sociedad latinoamericana. Con el objeto de contribuir a un diseño más integral de las políticas públicas para superar la pobreza y la desigualdad socioeconómica, además de examinarse las tendencias recientes del gasto social se profundiza en el análisis de brechas en tres ámbitos: juventud y desarrollo, desigualdad de género en el mercado laboral y segregación residencial urbana.
