dc.description.abstractEste documento contiene información estadística, cuadros y gráficos, relacionada con producción, consumo, comercio y precios para los subsectores agrícola, pecuario, pesquero y forestal. Adicionalmente, y para posibilitar una evaluación completa del sector agropecuario, se proporciona información detallada sobre el PIB global de cada país, el PIB agropecuario, valor de la producción, crédito, empleo, población, pobreza, salarios, inversión, gasto total y en el sector agropecuario y uso del suelo, entre otros indicadores. Mediante el mismo se intenta dar respuesta a la continua demanda de información comparable, confiable y de calidad. Los datos expuestos se presentan en series cronológicas estandarizadas y revisadas para que se pueda llevar a cabo el análisis de las tendencias del sector. La información recolectada tiene como propósito servir como insumo para la elaboración de diagnósticos a nivel nacional y regional sobre la evolución del sector agropecuario, apoyar la formulación de políticas de desarrollo agropecuario y estrategias nacionales, y ayudar a la elaboración de investigaciones socioeconómicas específicas del sector agropecuario. La información de este documento se complementa con el Sistema de Información Agropecuaria (SIAGRO), la base de datos creada por la Sede Subregional de la CEPAL en México para este sector, el cual se encuentra en http://www.eclac.org/mexico. Food trends, 1995-2007 Abstract: This document contains statistical information about production, consumption, trade and prices of agriculture, livestock, foresting and fishing activities Moreover, in order to allow a complete evaluation of the agricultural sector, the data presented provides detailed information about countries' GDP, agricultural GDP, production value, credit, employment, population, poverty, salaries, total spending in agricultural sector, use of land, among other indicators. This document tries to fulfill the demand of comparative information by providing reliable data. The revised statistical data is presented in chronological and standardized order, in order to perform the analysis of the sector trends. The purpose is to provide information for elaborating diagnostics at national and regional levels about the evolution of the agricultural sector. Also, it serves as an input for the creation of agricultural development policies and national strategies, as well as a contribution in socioeconomic research of the sector. Any additional information related to matters discussed in this document can be found in the Agricultural Information System database, (SIAGRO), created by the Regional headquarter of ECLAC in Mexico; http://www.eclac.org/mexico.
